Why europeans don't fall in love with americans And why americans are clueless about it.
Well, this morning I opened my italian news site and the main news was about an american program (60 minutes) that aired 2 days ago that showed some pretty harsh stuff on how iraqi prisoners were treated in iraq by american soldiers. Here is the link to some of the pictures:
http://www.repubblica.it/2003/e/gallerie/esteri/iraqabuse/iraqabuse.html
Then I went on some american news site (including cbs) and there was nothing on their home page. I had to search the NYT site to find:
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Prisoner-Abuse-Iraq.html
My point is very simple: what would have happened if american soldiers were treated like this by Iraqi soldiers? We all know the answer, we all know the pony show that american medias would have put up.
Two Continents, two ways of looking at the same thing.
Update:Finally 2 days later the NYT has given space to this news on its web site.

I found an interesting problem today while I was working on Web Services. I wanted to instantiate my web service with some input parameters.
Well it's not really possible and once I read this article it all made sense.

"Some Closing Notes on XML Serialization
There are a few subtle details with XML serialization that are important to know about when working with Web services that accept complex data types.
Realize that XML serialization:
- XML serialization can only be applied to classes that contain a public default (parameterless) constructor. If you create a class in the Web service that does not have a public default constructor, the Web service will still compile, but when attempting to generate the proxy class on the client's end you'll receive an error message.
- Read-only class properties are not serialized. That is, if a property in the class has only a get accessor, and not a set accessor as well, the property will not be serialized.
- Only public properties and fields are serialized. Private properties are not serialized.
- To serialize a strongly-typed collection of objects, have the class derived from System.Collections.CollectionBase adding an Add() method and an indexer. (See this article for more information.) Alternatively you can send an array of the specified type"
